Sheila Hogge was born in Oxford, England and although loved painting from a very young age followed scientific studies and graduated as a biologist. She started painting again in 1999 and is self taught. In 2012 her work was selected for the Shanghai Zhujiajiao International Watercolour Biennial Exhibition and exhibited in the Quanhua Watercolour Art Gallery, Shanghai, China and for the Royal Watercolour Society (RWS) Open Exhibition. She has had articles published and won prestigious international prizes and honours such as the Premio “Julio Quesada”, Watermedia Showcase USA, Wildscape Magazine “Wildlife Artist of the Year 2011”, Premio Fivars, Prof. Richard Verdi Centenary Prize, “Chase de Vere Award for Excellence”, Patchings and others. Her work was selected for the Royal Watercolour Society (RWS) Open Exhibition 2012, Premio Gaudi and she has been among the finalists in many competitions such as the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation and BBC Wildlife Magazine “Wildlife Artist of the Year”. Sheila now lives on the Granada Coast of Spain. |
